Our Team

Dr. Stefanescu has been with our organization for the past 4 years. Most staff members call him “Doc” or “Ion”. Doc enjoys a good game of ping pong or soccer in his spare time. Dr. Stefanescu has been married to his lovely wife, Raluca, for the past 12 years.

Quality patient care is of upmost importance to Dr. Stefanescu. He is diligent in assuring that his patients get needed tests and medications. Healthy lifestyle for his patients, including diet and exercise, are necessary components of care to Dr. Stefanescu.

Dr. Stefanescu attended medical school in Bucharest, Romania. He completed his medical residency in New York City. He also has experience in family practice and emergency situations, giving him a solid foundation to manage chronic pain. Dr. Stefanescu is always looking for ways to improve patient care and educate the staff at KPMS.

Dr. Karelis grew up in Lexington, Kentucky and graduated from the University of Kentucky’s School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Greenville, South Carolina and moved to Hazard in 2001. He currently resides in Hazard with his wife and two children. Dr. Karelis is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and has training in Bariatric Medicine. This specialty training, as well as his warm personality, creates a foundation that brings about confidence from staff and his patients alike.

Dr. Grentz graduated from Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1984 and completed his residency at Muskegon General Hospital in Michigan. He is board certified in Family Practice and has several years of Emergency Medicine experience. Dr. Grentz's diverse background and warm, sincere personality make him a great addition to the Kentucky Pain Management team.

Dr. Grentz and his wife Jan live in Laurel County and have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Dr. Grentz likes to spend his spare time outdoors on his farm and working with computers. The London office staff also report that he is quite the cook.
